XL Herringbone For Modern Homes

Most people know herringbone floors look good. What fewer people realize is that size changes everything. XL Herringbone uses planks that are more than double the size of a classic herringbone piece — and that single difference is what makes a room feel bigger, calmer, and more expensive. Braag’s Palette Collection brings this format to engineered vinyl: 150 mm × 750 mm planks, Ultra Matte surface, built-in sound underlayment, and full underfloor heating support, all in a floor certified safe for babies and pets.

1. Visual Space Effect
Larger planks mean longer, more sweeping V-lines across the floor. Instead of drawing your eye inward to a busy pattern, those lines push outward toward the walls — making the room feel wider than it actually is, without feeling overwhelming.
2. Fewer Seams, Cleaner Surface
Bigger planks cover more ground, so fewer seams show on the surface. The floor reads as one smooth, continuous plane rather than a patchwork. In open-plan living rooms or kitchens, this quiet effect makes everything else in the room feel more put-together.
3. Micro-Bevel Edge Detail
Each plank has a fine bevel cut on all four sides, creating a subtle shadow line that gives the floor real depth — similar to genuine hardwood. Unlike painted bevels that chip and fade, Braag’s micro-bevel keeps the protective layer intact so the edge stays sharp-looking for years. It also hides minor subfloor unevenness, so the installation looks cleaner even when conditions aren’t perfect.
4. Ultra Matte Surface Finish
Braag uses Excimer surface technology to achieve an Ultra Matte finish at GU 0–3° — one of the lowest sheen levels in the category. Sunlight and spotlights hit the floor and get absorbed rather than bounced back. No glare, no visible footprints, no oily shine.
5. Embossed IN Register
Braag uses register embossing, where the physical texture pressed into the plank surface is aligned exactly with the printed wood grain underneath. Every groove and knot you see, you can also feel — the two layers tell the same story.
6. Sound Performance
The built-in IXPE underlayment cuts footstep noise in the room by 10 dB and reduces sound heard in the floor below by 21 dB — a real difference in apartments or multi-level homes.
7. Palette vs. Spirit
The Palette Collection is a click-lock floating floor — no glue, easy to install, slight cushion underfoot. The Spirit Collection is glued directly to the subfloor: denser feel, zero hollow sound, and even faster heat transfer (0.010 m²K/W). Both use the same 150–155 mm XL Herringbone plank format and the same surface technology. Choose Palette for ease and comfort; choose Spirit if underfloor heating performance or a solid footstep matters most.

FAQ
Is it safe for babies and pets?
Yes. Both collections are phthalate-free with zero free formaldehyde, certified to GREENGUARD Gold and Indoor Air Comfort Gold standards. TVOC emissions test below 5 μg/m³, well inside the 1,000 μg/m³ limit.
Will XL Herringbone make a small room feel crowded?
No — it tends to do the opposite. The large plank size and directional V-lines draw the eye outward, making the space feel more open than a small-block pattern would.
Can I use it with underfloor heating?
Yes. Both Palette and Spirit are rated for systems up to 27°C. Spirit transfers heat faster; Palette still performs well within the compatibility range.
